Product Photography of Metal

Carters product photography of metal “products” is often done against a white background. We use studio flash photography and a focus stack technique for precision sharpness.. Please click on individual images for larger versions.

The photography of metal objects though can cover the purely functional ( the spanner) but sometimes the decorative (metal flower). Whichever the purpose is to show the product item in the best possible scenario.

Many of these product still life images try and take the ordinary properties of the metal item visually into a different area. How many of us that see coach screws or Hex Bolts and Nuts around us in our daily lives see them arranged as a decorative object ?

We also photograph useful metal objects ..

Carters also photograph the useful and everyday. Christmas fudge tine to guitar tuners to industrial sanders all come past our camera lenses.

Finally ..Where do the ideas come from?

When your metal products arrive for photography any visual clue you can give us as to how you would like them photographed helps enormously.

It could be a written brief with drawings showing placements. It could be a “mood board” made up from images you’ve seen in magazines.

It could be the back of a coaster or the back of an envelope.. a quick sketch, the words of an idea.. everything helps. Normally we shoot a couple of test “views” , receive your approval or tweak .. then full speed ahead.
